Week 4

I’m writing this on the bus. It’s 10.45pm and we’ve just finished a show.

It went really well. Afterwards, a lady first tried to climb onto the bus with us, then (when that didn’t work out), she very kindly invited us for drinks to a bar nearby. We had to politely decline, as we travelled for 6.5hrs, today, to get to the venue, and now we have another 2hr journey to get to our hotel.

She was disappointed, but recovered quite quickly. I reckon, in terms of drinks, she was probably ahead of us.

We’ve had a couple of fairly long drives, in the last few days, so I managed to finally watch the original Star Wars trilogy, back to back, for the very first time!

Calm down. I had a very busy childhood. Those Barbies wouldn't comb themselves.

I liked all three movies more than I thought I would. One thing I found particularly interesting: that Princess Leia is a kisser, isn't she. She kisses a lot. ‘You did good, I’ll give you a little kiss.’ Very endearing. We’re saving galaxies here, but we’re all in for a little peck on the cheek. That's what keeps us going!

Things, of course, get racier by the episode and I personally thought that subtle charm was lost.

Apart from sitting on a bus, singing on stage…

...eating fish and rice cakes (look at that flippin' feast!! #makingautobahnstopshealthyagain)...

...and checking into hotels, I also managed to have some nice strolls in the frosty German countryside, this week. Magical moments.

But not as magical as the time David and I thought - judging by the threatening tone of a particularly distressed coffee lady - we were being arrested for breaking some obscure law about coffee-drinking at a service station. We both stood there, petrified, as this lady seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown, right in front of us... I was about to play the “I’m Italian, I make the coffee rules here!’ card, when, luckily, Sylvia came to our rescue and explained that the only issue was that the lady didn’t have any 1 cent coins in the till, in order to give us our 1 cent change.

Only in Germany.

In terms of hotels, the craziest one so far has GOT to be the Dormero Bonn, in Windhagen. It featured (amongst others):

1. A pair of live iguanas at reception, loving their lives (and often each other).

2. A conference room called 'SILVIO'.

3. Some really interesting in-room lighting. Which, inevitably, brought out the party-animal in me.

The bus has stopped now. I think we've arrived.

As usual, I've no idea where I am.
